How to Build a Rocking Chair – Basic Steps to Follow
A rocking chair will help you relax after a hard day’s work. If you want to learn how to build a rocking chair, follow these steps and probably will succeed.
1. First you’ll need to choose the frame type to use for the chair. You can use pine because it is very cheap, or a harder wood such as oak for longer life.
2. Next, cut two pieces of wood, with the following dimensions: 3 / 4 inch thick, 3 1 / 2 inches wide and 21 inches.
3. Then mark 6 1 / 2 inch from the bottom of each of the front legs. Notch the top mark, which is 5 1 / 2 inches long and a depth of 3 / 4 inches. You can use a router for the job.

4. You can then cut a curve at the bottom and keep the upper right. Use a jigsaw to cut. The upper front support should be 3 / 4 inch thickness, width 5 1 / 2 inches long and 25.
5. You will then need to put glue in the grooves made earlier and place the front support notches higher. Make sure the upper front support and the front legs are square. Secure the front bracket upper screws. Let the glue dry overnight.
6. After the glue has set, screw the bottom front of support within the front legs. This will be of 3 / 4 inch thick, 1 1 / 2 wide and 44 long.
7. The hind legs have to be 3 / 4 inch thick, 3 1 / 2 inches wide and 30 inches. Cut the angles at the top and bottom of the rear legs.
8. Next you will need to form a middle seat support cutting a piece of wood 3 / 4 inch thick, 5 1 / 2 inches wide and 16 inches.

13. Now build a rocking chair by gluing and screwing rockers two pieces of 3 / 4 inches by 3 1 / 2 by 34 for each rocker. Softening the edges after the glue has dried.
